Recap

I saw Jasmine Guy in Wilmington on Friday. I waved to her as if I knew her...lol. She waved back. She's looks alot older that Im sure she is. She looks REALLY old.

Live 8 was pretty amazing it. It overshadowed a super heartbreak Friday for me. I was heartbroken when I learned that Luther Vandross died & then I was pretty hurt by an ex. After the latter, my attitude towards the opposite sex was a bit shady for the rest of the evening.

Anyway screw the ex. Luther is going to be missed. Christine wrote a pretty moving ode to Luther on her site. Check it out

I saw most of the acts at Live 8. We were so far back that it was impossible to see faces, but we did hear voices. We were on Pennsylvania Ave. somewhere. I saw everything on the big screen though. There were so many people, but I didn't mind. They were all very nice. I'm guessing they weren't native Philadelphians. No offense Philly, but your citizens are rude. The weather wasn't that hot either. We were in the shade, so there was a lovely breeze blowing.

Highlights

- I am not a Jay Z fan, but Jay Z & Linkin Park killed it. It was pretty hot. It was very energetic. It was too hot to dance, so I just nodded my head.

- The Dave Matthews Band was great. I love their violinist...I forgot his name.

- Have I ever mentioned that I think Kanye West sucks? If I havent...then...well...HE DOES!

- Toby Keith is a handsome fella, but I'm not into white dudes. So...sorry Toby...

[edit- Since some of you have been teasing me about Toby...I thought that I'd show you just how much of a "handsome fella" he is]

Just look at him. With a suntan, he could totally be a light-skinned brotha in this picture:

This is his B2K pose:

- I'm so mad at Destiny's Child for ruining The Staple Singers "I'll Take You There". Michelle Williams...I have a grocery list of issues with you sweety...but you kinda put the cap on the pen when you started singing. YOU ARE NOT MAVIS STAPLES!...Don't ever do that again...

- I could barely hear Alicia Keys. Who performance was very short. She mentioned Luther Vandross, but I couldn't understand what she was saying about him or if she sang a song for him.

- I enjoyed listening to Rob Thomas & Stevie Wonder. I would've prefered Maroon 5's lead singer instead of Rob Thomas...but oh well. I love Stevie. It's a shame that I was too far away to snap a photo.

I enjoyed my day. After the concert, were strolled around the city for a minute. Traffic was a mess. We left Philly later that evening. I'm glad to be back home.

Sounds like you had a good time.

Toby Keith? Handsome? I'm gonna leave that one alone. :)

There is no one who can do that song like Mavis Staples. No one. So, no one should even try.

That sucks about Alicia. Why was it that you couldn't hear her? Was there something wrong with her mic?

Haha. I would have said the same about preferring Adam Levine (Maroon5's lead singer) over Rob T. Adam Levine, now he's fine. LoL.

Btw, I think there is something wrong with your comments. I had to log into Typekey or whatever it's called to post a comment otherwise I would get an internal error.

oh, if toby keith doesn't stand a chance, what chance have i?

and ain't he a little right wing for you?

phillies residents rude? nooooooo... *disillusionment*

who gave rob thomas a license to sing anyway? what the flippit is he doing up there with stevie wonder? thanks a lot, santana, you just ballooned that dude's head way up.

All I said was that I think Toby Keith is kinda cute...in a redneck kinda way. I don't want to get with him or anything. His politics is a turn off...A MAJOR ONE being that I am NOT a Bush supporter and never have I been. I hear he's a southern Democrat though...go figure.

Anyway...aside from the politics and the country music...If he were 6 shades darker...he would've gotten humped on stage....just kidding.

six shades darker than tobey keith? ok. got the whole summer to work on that. course, you better stay away from my legs.

ps.,
read an interview this week w/ stanley hauerwas were he said the most dangerous thing that president bush said (btw, voted for him the first time, been saddened since) is that we're at war with the terrorists and, consequently their nations. he should've called it murder, which is what it was, and then the muslims would've helped bring them to justice.

instead, we gotta drop bombs on 'em, courtesy the red, white and blue.

"Toby Keith is a handsome fella."

Nope. I don't see the words "kinda cute" there. LoL.

Posted by: Gabi at July 3, 2005 9:41 PM

Mind your business Gabi...TOBY KEITH IS HOT!!

Ok...ok...there I've said it. If he was a brotha, I'd stalk him.

lol

Posted by: Timi at July 3, 2005 11:47 PM

or, "in a redneck way."

what's that supposed to mean?

jasmine guy's like 65.

jay-z, for all his narcissism, has the best flow, period. there is no comparison between him and his mash-ups at linkin park. stinkin' lite eighth-gen rage v. the machine.

and already talked about my baby michelle on my site, twenty times.

in all love (honestly)
peace,
j.

HiGH-lirious, girl. i'm not much of a judge in this area, but funny.

Posted by: Jason Dye at July 4, 2005 1:21 AM

lol.

Posted by: Gabi at July 4, 2005 5:39 PM

Heeeey, you plugged my poem. Awww thanks :)

lol @ Jasmine Guy, it's like the lower she's sunk on the celebrity list, the more 'homegirl' she's becoming to people. My friend saw her once and did the same thing you did. And she said she looked super old too. Time isn't kind.

LMBO @ Toby Keith, and his B2K pose. Wow. He's not bad though. He just needs to lose the hat :x

*dying with laughter* @ Michelle and DC's performance. I can't even comment on that!

And screw that ex...they always show up just to make our lives miserable and keep us from progressing. Trust.

Posted by: Christine at July 5, 2005 6:07 PM

Christine, hun he wears the hat to cover up that he's probably lacking in hair.

Posted by: Gabi at July 6, 2005 12:52 AM

Hey! Watch it Gabi. That hat makes him look like a stripper...I mean a cowboy. Cowboys are hot! haha

Posted by: Timi at July 6, 2005 1:07 AM

i think gabi's wrong.

what if it's a big lump on his head?

you ever seen a man w/ a shaved head who shouldna' shaved his head? that's what bomb boy is like.

and, speaking as a man, he looks gay.
